Eavestrough in Huron Park
Eavestrough installation and repair through Huron Park and the streets off Huron Road and Fischer-Hallman.
Huron Park shares Doon South's housing stock and most of its eavestrough problems, with one addition: a lot of the homes here are tall two-storeys with long, unbroken rear roof runs and steep front gables over the garage. Long runs with a single builder-installed outlet overflow at the far end in a hard rain, and steep gables shed snow in a slide that tears a lightly hung trough off the fascia. Both are routine fixes: an added outlet and downspout at the far end of the run, and tighter screwed-hanger spacing below the gables. Side yards here are at the minimum, so side-of-house downspouts are usually relocated to the rear corners where the water can land on lawn two metres out, as the City of Kitchener advises, rather than between two foundations. The aluminum fascia and vented soffit the builder installed are generally sound and are repaired rather than replaced where a panel has blown out or been pulled down with a trough. Where a homeowner has finished the basement, getting the downspouts right is cheap insurance, and it is often the first thing we look at.

Frequently asked questions
Do you work outside Kitchener — Breslau, Baden, the townships?
Yes, on the same terms. Distance does not change the quote. What does is the house: a long rural farmhouse with a steel roof and a single downspout is a different job from a bungalow in Forest Heights, and the site visit is where that gets settled.
Are the downspout rules different in the townships?
The Region of Waterloo Sewer Use By-law applies across the Region, so roof water stays out of the sanitary sewer everywhere. The two-metre guidance quoted on this site is the City of Kitchener's. For a property in Woolwich or Wilmot, the township and, where there is a septic system, the setback to the bed are what govern where a downspout can discharge, and we check before placing one.
Do you handle houses on wells and septic?
Yes, and the septic bed changes the downspout plan. Roof water discharged over a leaching bed overloads it, so downspouts on the bed side of the house are run or extended away from it. If you have a drawing of the bed, have it out for the site visit.
